Data Sources & Assumptions
Calculators often combine mathematical formulas with practical assumptions. This page explains how EstimateCalculation handles those inputs.
User-Entered Information
When a calculator asks for a material price, package size, coverage rate or product-specific value, the user can enter the information supplied by their retailer, manufacturer or project documents when the calculator provides that option.
General Assumptions
Some tools need a default density, coverage rate, system loss or waste allowance to produce a starting estimate. These values are planning assumptions, not universal specifications. Where possible, the calculator explains the assumption and provides an option to change it.
Current Prices
We do not treat one material or labor price as a permanent national price. Project costs vary by location, supplier, product, date and installation requirements. When a calculator supports cost estimation, entering a current local price produces a more useful planning result.
Manufacturer and Supplier Information
For final purchasing, use the current product label, manufacturer documentation or supplier information for the exact material you intend to use. Package sizes and coverage can change between products even when they have similar names.
Updating Assumptions
Calculator assumptions may be reviewed when we find an error, improve a calculation or learn that a default no longer makes sense for the intended planning use. Changes should be tested before publication.
Important Limitation
A source or assumption can improve an estimate but cannot account for every project condition. Always verify important quantities, specifications and safety requirements before work begins.
